There is a difference between a bridesmaid and a maid of honour. Generally, the person chosen to lead the bridal party’s extra responsibilities include: Helping the bride with wedding planning, making decisions and navigating family difficulties Being the head of the bridesmaids, keeping them organised and in the loop Leading the bridesmaids in planning a bridal shower and/or a bachelorette party Returning to the venue the following day to help with clean-up, if required
