Food Trucks

Why you should consider meals and beverages that come to you on wheels.

With the trend in casual, festival- style weddings growing by the season, new food and drinks trucks are popping up all over the country, making it easier than ever to offer your guests variety and convenience at an affordable price. Let’s look at the myriad reasons why you should consider adding mobile meals to your big day. THEY CAN COME TO YOU Food and drinks trucks can go almost anywhere – the beach, a farm, a mountain, the forest, wherever your hungry heart desires. Most run on generators, but, if you happen to have accessible power and prefer them to be quieter, most run from a standard power point as well. Some even have their own sound systems, so you can ditch the DJ all together! THEY GIVE GUESTS A CHOICE Including three different food trucks gives your loved ones freedom of choice. Jade Stack of Alfie the Caravan, a well-known drinks truck on the wedding circuit, attends around 30 weddings per season. She suggests going for a variety of food. “Choose one healthy option, such as a vegetarian truck, then one that is more indulgent, perhaps burgers or something else meat-based and one for dessert,” says Jade. Just be sure to think about the seating situation and give guests a practical place to enjoy their meals, without half of it ending up on their crisp new shirt. IT’S A COST- EFFECTIVE WAY TO SERVE ALCOHOL If you’re looking to save some pennies for the honeymoon, you can easily slash thousands with a mobile bar. Justine Shera, owner of Hello Audrey Caravan Bar and Boutique Bar Services, says part of the appeal of a drinks truck is that they’re BYO. “If you go through a licensed venue, you will pay $8 or $9 a wine,” she explains. “With a caravan bar, you have the option of buying all your own alcohol from wherever you like and choosing what it is that you want, giving you more control and making it more cost- effective.” And you can even personalise the menu with a signature drink. “Instead of paying $20 per cocktail, I would come up with a signature cocktail, then you provide all the ingredients and we make them to order on the night.”
