KEEP YOUR LITTLE ONE CLEAN AND COMFORTABLE WITH HOMEMADE WIPES

-

Imake these with kitchen towels but you can also make them with cloths such as Chux cloths, which you can buy in rolls from bulk bin stores. This way, you can recycle them by throwing the used ones in the wash.

There are two ingredients in this recipe that make it so wonderful. Witch hazel is antiseptic and also soothing for itchy or inflamed skin. But don’t get your witch hazel from the chemist, as it contains parabens. Instead, try to source pure witch hazel from a health shop.

Rosewater smells beautiful and is anti-bacterial and antiseptic. I’ll never forget watching people in Morocco pouring rosewater from a specially designed vessel to clean their hands before eating. It also balances the pH levels on the skin. Don’t buy this from the chemist, either. Source food-grade rosewater from ethnic shops – Indian and Middle-Eastern cuisines use it a lot.

½ cup water

1 tbsp rosewater

1 tbsp witch hazel

Pour a little of the mixture into the bottom of a plastic container with an airtight lid. Rip up a few small kitchen towels or Chux cloths, place them in the bottom of the container and pour a little more of the liquid on every time you have about 10 towels laid down.

Continue layering until you have soaked all the cloths, then replace the lid.

For travel packs, you can simply pop a few in a sealable plastic bag and pour some of the mixture in.
