New Zealand Woman’s Weekly

FROM THE EDITOR

- Alice O’Connell, Editor nzww@bauermedia.co.nz

With so many upsetting, tragic and frustrating stories filling up our news feeds and confronting us each night on TV, my hope for the Weekly’s 85th birthday was that we could get some relief and be reminded of the good. We all know the country is full of a huge number of Kiwis who are only too ready and willing to help out others – and do so every single day.

So we launched Bake It Forward last week, inviting you all to bake a cake and pass it on to someone who could do with a pick-me-up, and in the process spread some good cheer and warm fuzzies across the country. It’s a small gesture, but a powerful one and I figured if a few people said yes, it would be a success!

Well, a week in and I’m already making my way through my box of tissues as I read the entries of Kiwis who are baking it forward. I can’t wait to share their heartwarming stories with you.

And it’s not too late to enter yourself! Page 32 has all the details, but essentially, we’re just asking you to do some baking (a cake, biscuits, whatever takes your fancy) and pay it forward to someone who really deserves it. If you share your details, you can win $1000 worth of Countdown vouchers, plus another $1000 in vouchers to pay it forward to someone else.

Enjoy your week!
