CREATE A GORGEOUS CADDY FOR PENCILS, PENS OR BRUSHES

-

1 Make sure the food cans are completely dry, then paint the insides with the chalky paint. Use a different colour for each can. Allow the paint to dry completely between coats – two will probably be enough. 2 Now give the outsides of the cans two coats of paint in contrasting colours. Again, allow the paint to completely dry between coats. 3

Carefully peel a printed paper napkin so that you just have a single-ply piece, and cut out three ower motifs. 4 Using decoupage glue and a paintbrush, carefully apply the ower motif to the food can. The napkin will be very delicate, so take your time and stick it down gradually, one section at a time. 5

Allow the napkin to dry thoroughly before applying a further coat of glue to seal it. Use the decoupage glue to seal the image and the paint on the inside and outside of the can. Allow the glue to dry well between coats. 6

Paint the plaque using the same colour palette, then apply images or text with decoupage glue on the front section. 7

Attach the cans to the plaque base using some strong metal glue. Alternatively, you may wish to attach them more securely using a drill and some small screws.
