SINGER STAN WALKER STEPS UP FOR A NEW MOVIE

-

Kiwi star Stan Walker made a name for himself when he won Australian Idol in 2009, and his songs have ruled the New Zealand charts ever since. But the 27-year-old has more than just singing on his resumé – he loves to act too.

Following on from his role as a hunter in Hunt for the Wilderpeople, Stan’s latest film, The Stolen, tells the story of a female settler living in the South Island in 1860 whose husband is murdered and son kidnapped.

The movie shows off some of Canterbury’s most beautiful scenery, but the shoot didn’t come without a cost for the crew. Stan tells,

“My favourite memory is of all of us freezing in the river below the snowy mountains. We were all quite dramatic about it!”

Despite the chilly weather, Stan says being part of the film was an exciting experience, and a real highlight was working with the cast and crew, which included British actors Alice Eve ( Star Trek: Into Darkness) and Jack Davenport ( Pirates of the Caribbean).“I couldn’t show them around Christchurch as I’m as much as a foreigner there as they are,” laughs Stan. “But I definitely showed them our culture.”

The Stolen has allowed Stan to combine both his love of singing and acting as it led him to record a special acoustic version of his

2013 hit Find You to celebrate the film’s release. “I’ve always wanted to act and sing,” he tells. “It was an awesome experience!”
