Just the TONIC

STAY HYDRATED WITH THESE EASY, REFRESHING DRINKS

-

These delicious drinks are perfect for the summer barbecue season.

LEMON/LIME WATER

This tastes a lot like the flavoured waters you can buy and really quenches your thirst.

½ tsp citric acid

4 tsp sugar

1 litre ice- cold water

Juice of 1 lime or lemon

Add the ingredients to the icecold water, then slice up the squeezed lemon or lime and throw in as well. Great for the morning after celebrations! Time taken: 5 minutes.

SUN TEA

4 herbal tea bags (I use fruit

or berry mixes)

1 litre water

Lemon, to serve

Find a glass jar (not plastic as it may leach chemicals in the sun). Place four very fruity tea bags into the jar. Pour on water and then sit it in the hot sun. It will take on a bright pink colour and the tea will have steeped. Bring inside, store in the fridge, and serve over lots of ice and a slice of lemon. To sweeten, add some sugar or stevia.

Time taken: 5 minutes plus sun time.

ICED TEA

4 tea bags

2 lemon (or lemon and

lemongrass) tea bags

5 cups water

Put the tea bags in a jug and add in the water. Place the jug outside in the sun for at least 30 minutes, then squeeze out the tea bags and put the jug in the fridge. If you are in a hurry, you can use boiling water instead. Just let the tea bags steep for 5 minutes before removing bags and putting aside to cool.

Time taken: 5 minutes plus sun time.
