When Meghan met Tiggy

-

The Queen and the other royals are already Meghan fans, but there was one key person whom Harry needed to give the final seal of approval – his former nanny, Tiggy Legge-Bourke.

Tiggy became a motherfigure to the prince after Diana, Princess of Wales, was killed in a car crash in Paris when he was 12. Both Harry and William adore her – Harry is even godfather to her son Fred.

Tiggy lives just 48 kilometres from Cardiff, so when Harry and Meghan visited the Welsh capital earlier this month, they made a detour to see her.

A royal insider says, “Harry couldn’t wait to introduce Meghan to Tiggy. They got on famously. They’re both down-to-earth and they both love Harry. He’s really happy.”

Meanwhile, Harry is getting on famously with Meghan’s best friend and stylist Jessica Mulroney, who is reported to be staying with the couple at Nottingham Cottage, Harry’s Kensington Palace home.

“Jessica’s been flown over from Toronto to help with ‘The Dress’,” says a friend. “It’s pretty much been

sorted out, with a first fitting having already taken place. It’s very hush-hush.”

Harry is fond of the Mulroney family, who are expected to be at the wedding. A family friend says, “Harry’s become close with Jessica’s children, Brian, John and Ivy. Ivy especially is a big fan. She has no idea that he’s a prince – he’s just Auntie Meghan’s special friend.”

Although the guest list won’t be released until close to the wedding in May, Ivy (4) is expected to be a bridesmaid, alongside Princess Charlotte (2) and pageboy Prince George (4).

Sadly, one friend will be absent – former US president Barack Obama. “They can’t ask him and not ask President Trump,” says one diplomat.

“Mr Obama understands. They’ll catch up another time.”
