JAMIE AND JIMMY INTRODUCE THEIR FAMOUS PLUS-ONES

-

Working with his close friend, chef Jamie Oliver, can sometimes be a “disaster”, admits farmer Jimmy Doherty.

The beloved British foodies are now starring together on the fifth season of their hit series, but Jimmy (42) says they shared a love of good cuisine long before their TV days.

“We’ve known each other since we were about two, so we wind each other up all the time and get told off by the director quite a lot!” he laughs. “He sets me off, I set him off, but it’s great. It’s one of those amazing moments that you think, ‘God, I am so lucky to be working with one of my oldest friends.’”

Co-presenting the cooking show has been somewhat of a dream job for Jimmy, who says he’s had the opportunity to work with some amazing people. During this series, the pair are joined by a slew of celebrity guests, including actresses Lindsay Lohan and Salma Hayek, and Olympic diver Tom Daley.

“It’s difficult to say who has been my favourite guest,” reflects Jimmy, “but Mark Hamill was definitely a highlight – having Luke Skywalker in the kitchen cooking is insane!”

However, while cooking with his Star Wars hero was a definite career highlight for Jimmy, he admits nothing beats a Sunday roast with his wife Michaela, and daughters Cora and Molly.

“I do a lot of travelling for work, so when I’m home,

I make the most of it. That Sunday night meal is always so important – classic sitting around, enjoying the family, then going for a country walk.”
