REESE’S TIKI TOURS
Her adventures in Aotearoa
If her day job doesn’t work out, Reese Witherspoon could always turn her hand to being a tour guide and activities organiser in New Zealand.
The Oscar winner has revealed that while she was in the South Island last year filming the Disney movie A Wrinkle in Time, she not only made the most of her days off by getting to see as much of the surrounding countryside as she could, but she also roped in co-star Mindy Kaling to join her on her adventures.
In an appearance on The Late Late Show with Mindy (38) and Oprah Winfrey (64), who also stars in the film, she told host James Corden (39), “I scheduled Mindy from morning to night, every day we had a day off. First we’re going to wake up, we’re going to go for a hike, then we are going to go to a vineyard…”
At that point Oprah took over and did an impersonation of the Walk the Line star trying to organise everyone’s day: “This is what we are doing y’all… the helicopter’s going to pick us up and take us to the top of the mountain and then we’re going to go for a hike y’all, then we’re going on a boat… then we’re going to go dancing, there’s a great place in Queenstown, y’all, they have great macaroons there…”
A laughing Reese (41) said, “I like to make sure everyone has a plan, everyone is included and knows there are lots of activities.”
She waxed lyrical on social media about what a wonderful time she had when she was in Central Otago making the film in February last year, including posting a photo of herself and Mindy looking out over mountains and enthusing, “Couldn’t be more excited to discover #NewZealand with this lady.”
The mum-of-three also put up shots of herself in a vineyard and enjoying a yoga retreat, and alongside one particularly scenic photo wrote, “New Zealand, why are you so magical?”
Although Oprah didn’t join Reese on any of her adventurous jaunts, she posted her own shots in stunning South Island locations and declared, “I love New Zealand.”
