MARCHING FOR CHANGE

-

Never again!” was the rallying cry for anti-gun protesters to assemble for the March For Our Lives global events on March 24, which were organised by teenage survivors of the Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School shooting in Parkland, Florida – an incident that claimed 17 lives.

A number of famous faces joined the estimated 1.2 million people who descended on cities across the US to show their support for stricter gun laws in the country. Sir Paul McCartney (75), paid tribute to his Beatles bandmate John Lennon,

who lost his life to a gunman in 1980, while filmmaker Steven Spielberg (71) and his actress wife Kate Capshaw (64), Cher (71), Laura Dern (51) and Glenn Close

(71) also made their voices heard.

George Clooney (56) and wife

Amal (40), who donated $680,000 to the march, also attended. In a letter to the Parkland survivors, George wrote, “You make me proud of my country again.”
