Weevils and moths can become pests in your pantry in more ways than one at this time of year. Unfortunately, weevils tend to arrive in our homes already inside dry ingredients and for someone like me who uses organic products, those ingredients are often not fumigated to prevent infestation.
Every time you buy a bag of flour, rice or similar, place it in the freezer for 24- 48 hours to kill off any weevils which may have smuggled their way into your home. Store all your dry ingredients in air-tight containers and place a couple of bay leaves in to deter any interested moths. Also, mop out your cupboards with neat eucalyptus oil to help keep them clean and of no interest to moths.
