REESE WITHERSPOON LOVED THIS FUN, FANTASY PROJECT

-

When Reese Witherspoon received a call about working on a film with critically acclaimed Selma director Ava Duvernay, she immediately said yes without even knowing what the role was about.

“It’s very flattering to be chosen to be part of Ava’s movies because she doesn’t just make a movie, she makes an experience for everyone,” explains Reese (42).

After Ava explained what her film, A Wrinkle in Time, was about, Reese was even more excited to be part of it.

The Disney flick, which was filmed in New Zealand, follows two siblings whose father has been missing for the past five years after discovering a new planet. Guided by three astral travellers known as Mrs Whatsit (Reese), Mrs Who (Mindy Kaling) and Mrs Which (Oprah Winfrey), they go on a dangerous journey to an evil planet in search of their dad.

Another draw for Reese was being able to work with a strong female cast, something she has been passionate about after starting her own womenled film production company in 2012.

The Big Little Lies star explains, “The fact that I get to stand next to these extraordinary women who I have admired for so long and we get to talk about what would we impart to a young woman today.”

With a smile, she adds, “It was an honour and a beautiful experience.”
