New Zealand Woman’s Weekly
FROM THE EDITOR
It’s coming up on five years since we first saw Kate and William emerge from the Lindo Wing of St Mary’s Hospital, proudly – if not a little cautiously – holding their firstborn, ready to introduce him to the eagerly awaiting world. It had been just over 24 hours since Kate was admitted to deliver the future king, and the new parents’ nerves were evident as William fussed with the carseat and apprehensively started the Range Rover to make that first anxious journey home with his new precious cargo on-board.
Stunningly, with their third little bundle, Kate emerged within just seven hours, looking very much in love with her new little prince. And this time, when they walked out with their newborn tucked away in his carrier, William effortlessly held it in one hand – his other clasped with his wife’s to guide her down the stairs in her high heels – before casually tucking the newborn into the car, even managing to make a few dad jokes in the process.
Sure, our newest little prince is fairly far down the pecking order, but for me, the excitement hasn’t waned. Despite the early hour, I was transfixed watching it all happen – particularly when little Princess Charlotte nearly stole the whole show, turning back and looking over her shoulder to give a happy little wave as she headed in to see her new little brother. What a truly gorgeous family.
Enjoy your week!
