There can be. Afterwards, you may experience temporary confusion and memory loss. This is more common in elderly people and normally passes quickly. Other possible side effects include:
• Nausea and vomiting
• Shivering and feeling cold
• Difficulty passing urine
• Bruising or soreness from the IV drip
• A sore throat from the breathing tube
