About the author… Karen Hamilton

-

She loves to travel, having spent her childhood living in different places around the world, and later had a career working for a big airline. Now she lives in Hampshire, England, where she is raising three sons. This is her debut novel.

This novel was inspired by… “My many years working as cabin crew. One time, as I changed out of uniform after a flight before travelling on public transport, I felt this sense of returning to anonymity. It made me think about the faces behind work uniforms and I decided to explore what a character could be like if she wasn’t very nice or used her job as a disguise.”

The most challenging thing about writing it was… “Deciding quite how far Juliette’s character would go, while keeping it plausible, yet hopefully entertaining.”

The one thing I miss about my flying career is… “The camaraderie and teamwork. Like many writers, I spend long periods of time on my own, in my own head, and I miss having colleagues.”
