JEREMY CORBETT
IT TOOK EFFORT, BUT JEREMY IS NOW CELEBRATING HIS GAINS
Hi there! It’s time for another weight update. I’ve been keeping quiet about what I’ve been up to fat-wise, but having reached my target, I think it’s time to share.
I’ve been putting in the effort, been very strict and finally I am seeing results – I’m fat.
I don’t think I’m bragging when I say I’m the heaviest I’ve ever been.
How did I do it? Well, it seems unfair not to share some of the secrets of my transformation into a podge of impressive proportions. So here goes.
Goals are important. As the famous quote goes, “If you don’t know where you are going, how will you know when you get there?”
I have a similar saying, it’s one of my famous Corbett Nuggets – “Wherever you end up, claim that’s where you were trying to be.”
Thus, when I weigh myself these days, I look down and say, “Finally! My goal weight!” I say this irrespective of what terrible lies the scales are throwing back in my direction. Often, I’ll have a doughnut to celebrate.
“But surely that’s not the only secret, Jeremy?” I hear you ask. No, it isn’t.
I haven’t been to the gym in eight months. That’s not a typo. Not once. How did I do it? In bite-sized steps, day by day.
Each morning, I would wake up and ask myself, “Do you want to go to the gym, put yourself through considerable discomfort, make your clothes all sweaty and come home with hurty muscles?”
Usually, I’d answer straight away, in a confident voice, out loud so that I had to keep the promise, “No.” Sometimes,
I’d fall back to sleep before I’d completed asking the question and would have to say no later.
Of course, anyone who’s been on a strict weightignore regime like mine will know it’s not just about avoiding exercise.
The important part is the eating side of the equation.
And for me, that eating side of the equation had some massive numbers in it.
Heaps of digits.
I’ve been on a special diet where I eat whenever I pass the pantry, fridge, kitchen or house. Or when I feel like eating and sometimes even when I don’t particularly feel like it. To get to your goal, you have to punch through the pain. And that is essentially how I did it.
There have been other small sacrifices I’ve made, such as having chocolate instead of vegetables, but for the most part, it’s been all about energy in and energy out.
By focusing, I’ve managed to cram a lot of energy in and by staying still, I’ve managed to keep most of it in storage.
And much as I enjoy seeing my goal weight on the scales every morning, the thing I’ve enjoyed most about my new shape is finding my clothes no longer fit and I must go shopping. Which is a double bonus because it means
I can get some takeaways while I’m out.
