The Met Gala 2018

-

8/10 ANNE HATHAWAY

The Princess Diaries actress looked like a queen in this daring red ruffled gown. The elaborate sleeves and full skirt made a statement and the bright colour was the perfect contrast against her porcelain skin.

6/10 ALICIA VIKANDER

This monochrome dress didn’t do the Tomb Raider star any favours – and the peculiar white shrug and long black gloves just looked plain odd.

8/10 UMA THURMAN

Wearing an angelic white gown with more than 3000 hand-beaded pearls on the ivory wool and silk-quilted train, Uma’s look was a winner. She paired the dress with a dazzling statement necklace.

7/10 CINDY CRAWFORD

The former supermodel was miles away from the religious theme for event, but nevertheless she still looked beautiful in this figure-hugging red dress.

7/10 SALMA HAYEK

Her dress looked like it should have hung on the wall of the Met, not walking the steps! The sequined frock was inspired by a painting of the Garden of Eden.

7/10 JENNIFER LOPEZ

This gem-encrusted gown ruffled feathers with its daring split and exposed chest. The design was months in the making, with the bedazzled bodice blending beautifully with J-Lo’s train of feathers. Her slicked-back hair was the perfect finishing touch.

9/10 LYNDA CARTER

Swapping her trademark superhero headband for a dazzling gold crown, the original Wonder Woman proved she has what it takes to wow the crowd at 66. Her dress was elegant and on-theme, but still had some flare with the dramatic train.

10/10 AMAL CLOONEY

Pants for a gala? Only Amal could pull off something like that! The human rights lawyer and wife of George Clooney made a bold statement in this gorgeous outfit that featured a billowing floral train and navy trousers underneath. As co-host for the event, she dressed to impress.

7/10 SARAH JESSICA PARKER

Her years playing Carrie Bradshaw on Sex and the

City branded her a fashion icon and when it comes to events like these, Sarah still led the pack. Her outfit was more than a dress – it was a work of art and just the right level of crazy.

10/10 BLAKE LIVELY

The red carpet was Blake’s kingdom for the night and she looked absolutely regal in this show-stopping gown. It took more than 600 hours to embroider the bodice alone and the intricate train was so long, she needed an entire party bus to transport her to the event. Talk about wow!

7/10 FRANCES MCDORMAND

Amongst all the tiaras, crowns and halos, Frances certainly stood out from the crowd in this eccentric headpiece. Her matching blue Valentino cape was just as wild.

8/10 DAME ANNA WINTOUR

Lady of the night and

Vogue editor-in-chief Anna was a vision in white wearing an edgy bedazzled dress – and she even ditched her trademark black sunglasses for

the affair.

8/10 SARAH PAULSON

She truly brought the bling to this year’s Met Gala! The American

Crime Story star was almost blinding in this glitzy gown that was encrusted with jewels from head to toe.

8/10 MADONNA

This gothic-inspired ensemble was bang on theme for the event. Madonna styled it with a crucifix dotted crown, a net veil and, to top it off, a handful of black roses.

7/10 BEATRICE, PRINCESS OF YORK

Amongst the regal gowns and pretend crowns, it was Princess Beatrice who brought real royalty to the Met. The Queen’s granddaughter looked beautiful in a monarch-appropriate purple dress, but it did feel a little underwhelming in contrast to her competition.

7/10 SCARLETT JOHANSSON

The petal-like details and floral bunches looked randomly placed on this dress, and it was not Scarlett’s best look. The star also received a lot of backlash for choosing to wear a Marchesa dress – the brand of the wife of disgraced movie mogul Harvey Weinstein.

9/10 KATE BOSWORTH

Hail, Mary – er, we mean Kate! The Blue Crush actress looked angelic in this gold flecked gown. Her hair and make-up accentuated her beautiful doll-like features, but it was the unique pearl-trimmed veil that really took things up a notch.

9/10 DIANE KRUGER

In a sea of floor-length gowns, it was nice to see Diane mix things up with a short minidress. Although it left a lot of skin on show, she kept things elegant and on theme with puffed sleeves, a long train and funky fascinator.
