Gere-ing up for baby
Hollywood heavyweight Richard Gere is set to become a dad again! The 69-year-old is expecting a baby with his pretty woman, wife Alejandra Silva (35).
Four months after the pair tied the knot in Alejandra’s homeland of Spain, they announced the exciting news on Instagram with a picture of the Dalai Lama blessing Alejandra’s baby bump.
“Getting blessings for our precious to come. We couldn’t say it before telling HH Dalai Lama.” Alejandra wrote.
At the time of their wedding, Richard, who’s been a practising Buddhist since his twenties and is an active supporter of the Dalai Lama, described himself as “the happiest man in the universe”, asking, “How could I not be? Alejandra meditates, she’s a vegetarian, a great mother, has the touch of an angel. You can’t get any better than that.”
The baby will be
Richard’s second child. He has an 18-year-old son, Homer, from his marriage to second wife Carey Lowell (57). His first marriage was to model Cindy Crawford (52).
Alejandra also has a five-yearold son Alberto with her first husband, Govind Friedland, the son of US mining magnate Robert Friedland.
Richard and Alejandra met at a luxury Italian hotel where she was the manager. She told Hola magazine in 2016, “Richard has been my hero in real life. I was a little lost, without light, and meeting him gave sense to my life.”
