BIG LITTLE TRUTHS Nicole’s candid chat

THE STAR OPENS UP ABOUT JUGGLING FAME AND FAMILY

-

She’s spent most of her professional life trying to keep her private life private – but as Nicole Kidman has grown older, she’s also become more candid.

From joining Instagram earlier this year – her first photo was of her celebrating TV series

Big Little Lies’ Golden Globe win – to granting more interviews than ever and even mentioning first husband Tom Cruise, Nicole (51) has been on a roll of late, and in her most recent interview speaks of her newfound ability to say no.

“The thing you really learn when you have children and a career – and particularly when you’re an older mother – is the preciousness of time, and therefore trying to balance everything and be willing to say no to things,” she tells.

The mum of four – she shares elder kids Connor (23) and Isabella (25) with Tom (56), plus has daughters Sunday (10) and Faith (7) with husband Keith Urban (51) – has enjoyed a change of career fortune over the last few years, most notably with her turn as abused wife Celeste in Big Little Lies. Despite being busier and more vocal than ever, there are things she simply won’t budge on.

“The problem is that you miss bedtime,” she says of projects such as theatre work, ”and that, for me, is something I’m not willing to do.”

Instead, life at Nicole and Keith’s Nashville estate is pretty normal, she reveals – no TV in the bedroom – “we’re that couple,” she laughs, and no computers in the bed.

“Obviously I work hard, but when I’m off I’m off,” she says. “Keith and I are very good at immediately clicking off – we have a really good life in Nashville that’s very simple, quiet and nourishing because we’ve made it like that.”

As she juggles her two lives, there’s no denying that a ‘Kidmanaissance’ is happening in Tinseltown, mainly off the back of the #MeToo movement. And with a second season of her hit drama out next year, Nicole has revealed she’s let Sunday and Faith appear in some scenes as extras! We’ll be sure to keep a lookout!
