TWICE THE EXTRAVAGANCE FOR PRIYANKA AND NICK’S WEDDING
Priyanka Chopra’s lavish two weddings to Nick Jonas in India
Bollywood sensation Priyanka Chopra found it hard to keep her emotions in check when she and former teen idol Nick Jonas tied the knot in two lavish ceremonies.
“It was tears, all tears,” the former Quantico actress says. “I could not hold it in. I was nervous and scared. But as soon as the curtains opened and I saw his face, it was just like everything settled, and I knew I was making the best decision of my life.”
Priyanka (36), who has appeared in more than 50 films and won 24 film awards, including the Indian equivalent of an Oscar, was escorted down the aisle by her mother Madhu, as her father, Ashok, died of cancer in 2013.
The groom’s pastor father, Paul Kevin Jonas Sr, officiated at the couple’s Christian ceremony, held at the Umaid Bhawan Palace in Jodhpur, where Nick (26) and Priyanka wore Ralph Lauren. The bride, who won the title of Miss World in 2000, was a vision in a gown decorated with two-million pearl sequins and a 22-metre train.
The happy couple shared a five-metre cake with guests, including Nick’s brothers Joe
(29) and Kevin (31), the other members of former pop-rock band the Jonas Brothers.
The couple also had a Hindu ceremony to honour Priyanka’s heritage, in which Nick applied powder to Priyanka’s head to symbolise that she was married.
“When he put sindoor on my forehead, it was something that I dreamed about since I was a little girl,” she says.
Nick says emotions were running high. “You think your whole life about that moment. I could not have imagined it would be as perfect as it was.”
He’s set a high bar for Joe, who is engaged to Game of Thrones actress Sophie Turner.
