How to make sticky f ly paper

-

Flies are a nuisance in the summer and I don’t like to use too much fly spray in the house, to reduce the harmful chemicals my family and pets are exposed to. These are a very old-fashioned but natural method of catching flies that work really well, as long as you don’t mind long strips of paper covered in dead flies!

1 Cut some strips of brown paper and make a hole at the end of each strip so you can thread string through it. 2 In a saucepan, mix one-part water, one-part sugar and one-part honey or golden syrup, then heat until the mixture has combined well. Turn off the heat and allow the mixture to cool a little.

3 Dip each paper strip into the mixture, making sure each side is coated well.

4 Suspend the strips over a baking tray and leave to drip. When dry, the sticky fly papers are ready to hang up in your kitchen or other fly-prone areas!
