INSIDE THE GOLDEN GLOBES

THE STARS PARTY HARD AFTER THE GOLDEN GLOBES

-

All the frocks and goss

When the last of the statuettes were handed out, and hosts Sandra Oh (47) and Andy Samberg (40) wrapped up the TV coverage of the Golden Globes, the stars hit the party circuit to dance the night away.

The evening’s big winners, such as Olivia Coleman (44), Rami Malek (37) and Patricia Clarkson (59), had extra reason to celebrate, but even those stars who missed out on a trophy seemed to cut loose at a variety of lavish after-parties.

Celebrity stylist Rachel Zoe (47) was at the Instyle/Warner Bros party, where she picked her favourite outfit: “Julia Roberts looked amazing. She looked cool. She looked radiant, she looked happy.”

Other guests included Lady Gaga (32), Taylor Swift (29), Jim Carrey (56) and Sarah Silverman (48), who paid tribute to the awards’ hosts. “They couldn’t have been more perfect. I couldn’t get the smile off my face watching them,” she gushed.

At the Netflix bash, winner

Michael Douglas (74) and wife

Catherine Zeta-Jones (49) held court while Sacha Baron Cohen (47) and Isla Fisher (42) hit the dance floor.

Patricia, who won for Sharp Objects, finally got a snack at the HBO party! “I haven’t had a bite or a breath in days,” she said.

CLAIRE FOY

The First Man star looked sunny and sensational in a bejewelled yellow dress and dazzling diamond earrings.

The burgundy lipstick and nails were a nice touch too.

LAURA DERN

Big Little Lies beauty Laura stepped out in a red-hot ruffled number. Her beachy waves and natural make-up were a pretty contrast to the dramatic dress.

AMY ADAMS

Yawn. This lacklustre blue dress didn’t do Amy justice. When nominated for two awards, a showstopper is needed.

MELISSA MCCARTHY

Her star power is not in doubt, but this purple frock is. Her hair and make-up looked lovely, though.

ALLISON JANNEY

The West Wing star looked stunning in her perfectly tailored turquoise, off-theshoulder gown.

LUPITA NYONG’O

Black Panther stunner Lupita didn’t skimp on glamour for this event. She stole the show in a breathtaking embellished blue gown and some eyewatering diamonds.

KRISTEN BELL

The Good Place star looked wonderful in this delicate, pleated delight! The baby pink highlighted her golden hair and glowing complexion, and her jewellery was to die for.

LADY GAGA

The gorgeous singer wowed in a periwinkle showstopper that was inspired by the outfit Judy Garland wore in the 1954 version of A Star Is Born. Her matching hair and 100 carats of diamonds made this outfit blue heaven.

CATHERINE ZETA-JONES

She may not have been nominated for any awards, but Catherine brought the drama in a gorgeous emeraldgreen one-shouldered gown and a pair of slinky gold shoes.

The Favourite star didn’t look anything like frumpy Queen Anne in this dramatic, floor-length black dress with split sleeves and an eye-catching mesh design. This stunning white gown was one of three outfits Sandra wore while hosting. All of the dresses were designed by women and they all had the wow factor. The Molly’s Game actress played it safe in this glittering black gown. The new mum looks pretty, but it’s not her most memorable outfit. The leading lady of A Private

War showed off her trim, taut and terrific figure in this black, cut-out gown complete with a short, sparkly jacket. We’re not convinced by this bland blazer-inspired halterneck dress. At least Julianne jazzed it up with some glittery cuffs and rings. Just four months after giving birth, Rachel looked beautiful and absolutely frilled to be on the red carpet!

The star’s enormous ring and shimmering choker added extra interest to her monochrome outfit.

JAMIE LEE CURTIS

Holy smokes! Jamie Lee looked sensational in this jaw-dropping white dress featuring a silver-sequinned bodice and thigh-high split. Also, where can we buy one of those clutch purses with rings?

HEIDI KLUM

The supermodel struck out again in this weird floaty black tulle gown with its sheer bodice, smattering of flowers and completely unnecessary bow.

CHARLIZE THERON

Now here’s a bow done well! Charlize was a picture of elegance in this sleek blackand-white number with keyhole detail. The slickedback hair and dark nails finished off the look nicely.
