ALEC’S BIG ACT

Ruth and co-star Iain Glen (from Game of Thrones, below) recreated scenes from the real lives of her grandmother Alison (above), and her bigamist and liar grandfather Alec (right), for the British TV series Mrs Wilson. Ruth says one of the strangest experiences during filming was a scene in which she portrayed her grandmother giving birth to her father. Alison was horrified to discover after her husband’s death in 1969 that the former spy was married to three other women, and had a total of seven children.
