HILARIA’S HEARTBREAK
‘Our baby has passed away’
Alec Baldwin’s wife Hilaria has heartbreakingly revealed she’s suffered a second miscarriage four months into their pregnancy.
Hilaria announced the awful news on Instagram after a scan.
“We are very sad to share that today we learned that our baby passed away at four months,” she wrote. “We also want you to know that even though we are not okay right now, we will be. We are so lucky with our four healthy babies – and we will never lose sight of this. I’m really devastated right now… I was not expecting this when I went to my scan today. I don’t know what else to say, I’m still in shock.”
The loss comes only seven months after Hilaria (35) and
Alec (61) experienced another miscarriage. When she suffered her first one, Hilaria openly talked about her experience, doing so to help remove any stigma or uncertainty around it.
She said at the time, “I think it’s important to show the truth, because my job is to help people by being real and open. Furthermore, I have no shame or embarrassment with this experience. I want to be part of the effort to normalise miscarriage and remove the stigma from it.”
Alec and Hilaria, who have Carmen (6), Rafael (4), Leonardo (3) and 15-month-old Romeo together, were expecting a baby girl.
The yoga teacher announced her pregnancy early, preferring to talk about her morning sickness rather than keep the news hidden until the end of the first trimester. Dubbing the decision “liberating”, she often posted pictures of her growing bump to social media.
“It was stressful for me to have to keep it a secret on top of everything when you don’t feel well, and it’s like everyone is telling you not to say anything.”
Hilaria wanted to share the entire experience so if something did go wrong she could be open about that too, saying:
“I realised that after having so many children and having a miscarriage in the spring, this is my sixth pregnancy. Through having that, for me, there’s no reason to be quiet. If I lose the baby, then I don’t have to be ashamed of it. I can be open about it.”
For now, the shattered pair are being supported by family, including Alec’s niece Hailey Bieber (22), who sent the couple a kind message on social media, and are focused on their four kids.
