NOT SO fonda that!
JANE REVEALS WHY SHE’S STAYING SINGLE
With the final season of her hit show Grace and Frankie on the horizon, and her busy schedule as a climate activist, Jane Fonda doesn’t have time for a relationship. And as she revealed recently, she certainly isn’t looking for one.
“I don’t want to be in a relationship, a sexual relationship, again. I don’t have that desire.”
Though she does fantasise about a man who would cherish her, she admits she’s only interested in younger men.
“The problem is that, like a man, I would want a younger partner. Isn’t that awful? It’s a thing about skin. I would want a younger man and I’m too vain.”
The 83-year-old has been married three times – to French director Roger Vadim, activist Tom Hayden and billionaire founder of CNN, Ted Turner, 82 – each marriage lasted a decade or more, but they always ended. On reflection, Jane has been able to understand where her relationships went wrong.
“What I’ve had to really think about is that I’m not really capable of intimacy. It’s not them. It’s me. If a guy had come along and said, ‘Come on, Fonda, show up,’
I would have run away scared.
“I was attracted to men who never would have done that to me because they couldn’t necessarily show up themselves. I didn’t know that at the time, but now I know.”
