Most of us know the benefits of exercise – not just for our physical health, but for our mental health, too. But there are a myriad of reasons (excuses?!) we tell ourselves in order to avoid it. I know for me, a smoothie and a walk to work in the morning sets me up for the day ahead and I absolutely love reformer Pilates. The truth is, however, I’ve let both slide this year.

But after reading our cover story with the wonderful Wendy Petrie, as well as other stars who share their exercise tips and tricks, I’m certainly inspired to try to find a way to incorporate it back into my lifestyle. For me, it’s about attending a certain number of classes in a month or walking a certain number of days each week. Others prefer to count kilometres or weights they can lift. Regardless, if you’re in the same boat as me and need a little boost to get started again, I hope you feel as motivated as I do!

On page 20, Mike

McRoberts talks about his incredible journalism career that has seen him travel into some of the most dangerous parts of the world. Now celebrating 20 years at Three, he reflects on the stories that he’s told and why they’ve been so important.

This week, we also tackle the big issue of surrogacy. While we often hear stories of when it has been successful, sometimes it can take a tragic turn. Page 26 tells the story of a couple whose lives were shaken by their experience.

And on a lighter note, 95-year-old Wesley D’Audney was a model on a Word War II poster that had one million copies produced! She now lives on the Hibiscus Coast and from page 30 she looks back on her amazing life – and shares her secret to longevity!

Have a lovely week.
