It was wonderful to be welcomed into the home of Mark and Mary Richardson and their beautiful twins Annabel and Charlie for this week’s issue. Mark is celebrating turning half a century and on page 6 they share some of their parenting philosophies, as well as their dreams for the future.

I always find twins a little bit fascinating – perhaps it was from reading Maurice Gee’s Under the Mountain as a child, which told the story of Rachel and Theo who had strange powers that meant only they could save the world. It was the kind of tale that stuck in my head, especially when my twin nephews were born with a shock of red hair! They are identical and I still find it difficult to tell them apart, even though they are now almost 20 and tower over me.

And it was uncanny to discover that photographer

Jae on our shoot at the Richardsons is also a twin, and he and brother Simon share a birthday with Annabel and Charlie! They had a lot to talk about.

In royal news, William and Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge recently visited Scotland, where they retraced the footsteps of where their romance first blossomed. They still look so much in love, so don’t miss all the pictures on page 12. And how wonderful to see Zara out and about with her adorable two-month-old son Lucas – she certainly isn’t one to slow down!

Finally, she was recently announced as New Zealand’s next Governor-General and on page 18 Dame Cindy Kiro hopes to inspire others with her story about her humble beginnings. Which I’m sure she will.

Have a lovely week and keep those letters coming!
