The Rock Morning Rumble host reveals what rocks his world

Not a lot of people know this about me, but I’m very good at…

My five-year-old son will tell you it’s drawing cartoons. I’ve never been able to draw, so I don’t know how all of a sudden I can, but it’s enough to impress my boy, so I will take that.

If I could pass any law, it would be…

That bald people like me don't have to pay for parking!

My favourite book ever is…

Unbroken: A World War II Story of Survival, Resilience, and Redemption by Laura Hillenbrand. It’s an amazing true story of a man who survived a plane crash in sharkinfested waters, and drifted in the ocean for 47 days only to be captured and tortured for two and a half years. The will to survive is incredible.

The best day of my life was…

The days my two boys were born. My wife Sharyn and I had a really tough journey to get there. Like many other Kiwis experience, we’d lost three along the way, so as you’d expect, the emotions were through the roof. We feel very blessed.

The best thing my parents taught me was…

To do good things for other people.

I have stacks of memories of my mum and dad either sponsoring kids in need overseas and here or helping a family in need. It’s something that really rubbed off on me and I now try to teach the same thing to our boys.

My favourite place to holiday in New Zealand is…

I love so many parts of NZ! The Far North is very special to me, but if I had to pick one place it would be Hahei in the Coromandel. I have been there stacks of times over the years and I just love the place.

When I was a child, I wanted to grow up and…

Much to my dad’s amusement, as a child I loved looking after all my young cousins, and so I wanted to grow up and work with kids, so I would tell people I wanted to be a gynaecologist. However, I was only eight and was certainly not yet aware of what that job actually entailed.
