HFDA calls for recruits
If you’ve got a passion for fashion and design, or staging, lighting and shows, the Hokonui Fashion Design Awards might just have an opportunity for you.
The Wardrobe Ladies, as they call themselves - who unpack the designs for the first time, catalogue them, fit them to models and ensure they look perfect before they hit the runway, are looking for some volunteers to help bolster their ranks.
So too are those who organise staging and lighting.
Awards spokesperson Sharee McIntyre said a meeting would be held at the Heartland Hotel Croydon on May 1 at 7pm.
‘‘We’re really keen to get the next generation involved, who are enthusiastic and might have some new ideas to help the awards grow and evolve.
‘‘We’d like anyone who would like to be involved to come along.
‘‘I think the Awards have been perceived as being a bit of a closed shop because the same people volunteer every year, but that’s not the case. It’s a community event and the community need to be involved and we’re really keen to get them on board.’’
If you would like to attend the evening contact Sharee McIntyre on 021 159 6008 or email email@example.com before Friday April 27.
