Lucy’s tips

UPDATE THE LIGHTING “Changing the apartment’s lighting lifted and modernised the entire look of the home. We had an electrician help us, and we’ll just switch them back over when we leave.”

UPGRADE THE WALLS “We painted the kitchen, both bedrooms and the sunroom ourselves. It’s always important to have respect for the owner by improving the aesthetics, rather than completely changing them, so check with your landlord first.”

CAMOUFLAGE THE FLOOR “You can’t do much about the flooring in a rental home, but you can choose rugs you love. We’ve used them in most of our rooms.”

The couple’s record collection provides colour and personality in the living room. Opposite: Lucy and Jonno use hooks to increase storage space.

An inky duvet cover anchors the bed in its serene white surroundings.
