Quick-fire with Hayley…

NEXT (New Zealand) - - Cover Story -

I’d like my NEXT big holiday to be… Travelling the length of Vietnam on a motorbike! I have dreams of starting my trip with a splurge at the Hanoi Sofitel, then I’ll jump on a bike and travel south. I'll take in all the little villages on the way, through Ho Chi Minh, ending at the beaches of the south coast.

As soon as I wake up, the NEXT thing I do is… Put the kettle on for a hot apple cider vinegar. It’s my one and only routine activity.

After my phone and wallet, the NEXT thing I always have to have in my handbag is… I can’t go out without a tube of lip balm. Yes, I need to drink more water so I don’t need to constantly slather it on, but until I get with the hydration programme, it’s always in my handbag.

When I’m feeling stressed, my NEXT move is to… Ring my mum! No problem is too small to make a call to the woman who knows me better than I know myself.

NEXT on my reading list is… I’ve just been lent The Argonauts by Maggie Nelson by a friend who in turn had it lent to her by another friend. I hope it ends up back in its rightful bookshelf one day, but until then it will expand the boundaries of anyone lucky enough to read it.

I’m at a fantasy celebrity dinner, and sitting NEXT to me is…

I’ve always thought Joaquin Phoenix would be a good time.

By my NEXT birthday I’d like to achieve…

I’m ridiculously superstitious so I absolutely won’t jinx myself by putting my hopes and dreams into print.

My NEXT purchase will be… I have an unhealthy addiction to sneakers so while I would love to say my next purchase will be my own house, it is more likely to be a pair of Jordans, thus pushing any home-owning dreams even further out of reach.

After ‘drink more water’, the NEXT best piece of advice

I’ve ever been given is… Try not to worry about what others are thinking or saying about you, because a) worrying about something will not make it go away, and b) they’re more likely to be thinking and talking about themselves!
