Worried you didn’t make the best impression meeting someone new? You’re not alone – a study published in Psychological Science examined five studies where
participants met and talked to new people. They consistently found that participants experienced a ‘liking gap’ – that is, participants said they liked their conversation partner, but underestimated how much their conversation partners liked them back. If that sounds familiar, don’t worry – just don’t let it stop you making new friends.
