Festive lunch at Dacre Cottage

-

The traditional Dacre Cottage Christmas Lunch is almost here.

On November 30 the volunteer committee is putting on the annual lunch to bring the community together and raise funds to help pay for ongoing maintenance of the grounds and cottage.

Bring along a few one and two dollar coins for some great raffles and fun games, and help raise a few extra dollars for this piece of New Zealand’s heritage.

Lunch is $15 a person with kids under five free and primary school students $5.

Any profits raised by the lunch will go to the Dacre Cottage Committee to spend on the cottage and grounds.

The lunch begins at noon at Dacre Cottage. You can take a boat, kayak or walk. High tide is at 2.30pm.

A dinghy will be transporting people across the Okura Estuary from the end of Okura River Rd to the sand bar from 10.30am until 10.45am and will return across the estuary from 2.30pm to 2.45pm.

The dinghy and captain are unavailable outside these times due to other commitments.

You will get wet feet getting in and out of the boat, and the walk to the cottage from the sand bar takes about 20 minutes.

Or you can walk in from the end of Haigh’s Access Rd off East Coast Rd, allowing 1.5 to two hours, or walk from Stillwater allowing one to 1.5 hours.

Bookings essential.
