Gala fun at school

-

BEX Argar has never had a serious relationship, so she’s taking matters into her own hands and sharing her journey with everyone.

The Manly resident has decided to make a web series ‘ ‘ documentary’’ called #TheOne which will be broadcast on YouTube.

The idea started while studying film and television at UniTech, and was put into action after graduating.

‘‘Everyone is always trying to find the right person,’’ she says. ‘‘I thought it would be funny to try find a relationship and show what it’s like in 2014 with Tinder and all that.

‘‘I wanted to do something relevant to all age groups and generations. No matter how old you are people are always in relationships or are single and looking for love.’’

Argar and four friends from UniTech started planning, and opened their crowdfunding campaign two weeks ago.

They have until December to raise enough money for equipment, like microphones, needed for their web series.

The 21- year- old already has two dates set up for next week, one with someone she met on matchmaking phone app Tinder, and one with someone she had already met through a friend.

She won’t be short on dates either, since she has almost 250 matches on Tinder, and yes – she is afraid of mixing up their names on dates.

Her crew will be alongside her on every date recording, and she says it will all be genuine.

‘‘I don’t want to fool any- one, trick people or have people think I’m leading them on,’’ she says. ‘‘Yes, I do want a boyfriend, and yes, I’m making a documentary about it, but this isn’t a game for me. We’re not doing it for money, just to do something creative. I am dedicating myself to doing this and I do want a positive result in the end. I’m not stringing people along or pretending I’m interested.’’

So far her potential suitors haven’t minded the idea of being filmed.

‘‘These guys are really positive about it,’’ Argar says. ‘ ‘ But they’re mainly j ust interested in dating me. They said ‘ if that’s what comes along with it, I’ll do it’.’’

Friends and family have also had positive reactions to her idea.

‘‘A few friends ask if I’m embarrassed, but it’s pretty hard to embarrass me. My friends and immediate family are supportive and think it’s pretty cool.’’

The group hopes to start filming more in December and Argar says ‘ ‘ all these boys’’ are consuming her life.

‘ ‘ I’m playing the field, I guess.

‘The best ending for the documentary is to find someone, it would be great if that happens.’’ Stanmore Bay School has its annual gala on Sunday from 11am to 3pm.
