$1 million grants in Nth Shore

Community facilities throughout the former North Shore area will benefit from grants totalling $1,144,546.

The Devonport-Takapuna, Kaipatiki, Upper Harbour and East Coast Bays Subdivisio­n Local Board Funding Sub- committee has confirmed the recipients of this year’s Community Facility Developmen­t Fund.

The fund supports community focused organisati­ons, whose projects and services help strengthen community wellbeing, to develop facilities.

This year the fund received 18 applicatio­ns.

Grants include the ATC 6th Squadron $25,000, AUT Millennium Centre $45,000, Badminton North Harbour $40,000, Browns Bay Bowling Club $ 60,000, Milford Tennis Club $ 132,000, Netball North Harbour $ 190,000, North Harbour Volleyball $100,000, North Shore Events Centre $ 150,000, Raeburn House $ 50,000, The Men’s Shed $60,000, the Mayfield Scout Group $38,000, Torbay Sailing Club $200,000, Yes Disability $ 10,000, and Zeal $44,546.

Sub- committee chairwoman Margaret Miles says local communitie­s benefit from all of the groups receiving funding.

‘‘The organisati­ons we are supporting have incredibly important roles in our neighbourh­oods,’’ she says.

‘‘We are pleased to be able to support them to keep delivering excellent services.

‘‘This year the applicatio­ns added up to over $3 million and we have to ensure we are funding groups that help make the biggest difference in our communitie­s.’’

The fund provides financial support for $30,000-plus asset developmen­t by not-for-profit organisati­ons.

Grants totalling $208,085 were made from the Strengthen­ing Communitie­s Fund.
