Dog owners are being reminded to prevent burnt paws. ‘‘We’d encourage owners – and professional dog walkers – to avoid walking on hot surfaces during the heat of the day as asphalt, concrete and sand can become extremely hot,’’ Animal Management manager Nikki Marchant-Ludlow said. An air temperature of 25 degrees can result in an asphalt temperature of over 50 degrees, causing painful burns and damage to dogs’ feet.
