Community grants on offer

Community groups wanting to deliver projects and events in the Hibiscus and Bays Local Board area have until 25 March to apply for funding.

Local Board Chair Gary Brown says that grants support sport and recreation, environment, heritage, arts, events and community projects.

‘‘We see the difference that grants can make in our community. By making every dollar count, we can help more people and that’s even better.

‘‘So, we are asking applicants who can, to pool their resources and work together, to deliver projects to help people who need it most.

‘‘It’s humbling and inspiring to be able to support some of the great work being done in our communities.’’

Also open is the facilities grant which provides funding to assist with the costs of planning or developing a facility within the local board area. The grant can be used for needs assessments, feasibility studies, investigation and design costs, and small building works.

Previous applicants have used grants for architect fees for a facility redevelopment, a feasibility study to investigate a joint facility development, and to supply and install a lift.

Applicants can apply for a grant amount between $2000 and $10,000 and complete an online application form at aucklandcouncil.govt.nz

Grant decisions will be made at the local board business meeting on 19 May 2022 and projects must start after 1 June 2022.

Last October $144,500.87 was awarded to 42 organisations from local grants.
