Massage therapy training - May intake

-

Many students who are interested in professional massage therapy qualifications are looking for study options which offer flexibility regarding when study can be completed thus enabling it to fit well with work and life commitments.

The New Zealand College of Chinese Medicine is unique in that it offers both the Level 5 NZ Diploma in Wellness and Relaxation Massage and the Level 6 NZ Diploma in Remedial Massage nationally by blended learning (on line distance learning and block courses).

The College has offered the Level 5 NZ Diploma in Wellness and Relaxation Massage since 2018 and has delivered the Level 6 NZ Diploma in Remedial Massage to distant and local students via blended learning since 2021. Both qualifications have proved very popular with students from throughout New Zealand successfully completing the programmes.

The blended learning option offered provides learners with much more choice and flexibility about how and when they study and enables much greater access nationally to these NZQA approved massage qualifications. Both diplomas attract applications from throughout New Zealand and in particular enable those living outside of Auckland to undertake these internationally recognised qualifications. Students located in Auckland are also able to vary study commitments to give themselves greater flexibility about when they study and offer opportunities to maintain work related commitments whilst still completing academic work.

Students learn most of what they are required to know at times and in locations which best suit their needs. Students in both urban and rural locations are offered the opportunity to study from home and at times to suit their life commitments and this opens the door to studying a professional qualification in massage therapy to a whole range of people who otherwise would not be able to enrol.

Both Diplomas are one-year full time courses. The blended learning course design of both qualifications comprises distance online learning modules in theory work and on campus practical block modules offered using the College’s well equipped massage clinic facilities at the Auckland campus. Students meet the supervised practical requirements to register as a massage therapist with Massage New Zealand both through the block courses and for Level 6 also with the possible option of completing an approved individualised clinical work placement.

The programmes are taught by very experienced teaching staff and massage therapists and produce graduates who are equipped with the knowledge and skills required for effective professional clinical practice in either wellness and relaxation massage therapies or in remedial massage therapies. Graduates obtain the latest internationally recognised New Zealand registered qualification in their field and open the door to a wide range of employment opportunities.

Graduate destination data shows excellent employment outcomes for students completing both massage diplomas.

Students who complete the level 6 programme may pathway to bachelor’s degrees in Massage Therapy.

The College is currently enrolling students for an additional start date with an intake starting May 1.

Students who begin in May will complete their study programme by March 1, 2023, enabling them to make an early start to their career.

The next Open Day is on Friday 28 April. Use this opportunity to seek information about any of the qualifications offered by the College, tour the Campus and to meet with staff.
