KINETIC ART: Starting from the work of Len Lye, the GovettBrew­ster Art Gallery presents a new exhibition Set in Motion, with artwork by four new generation artists working in the field of kinetic sculpture and experiment­al projection. Colours, sounds and movement overlap in the Len Lye Centre exhibition open until November 27.

DRAWING CLASSES: Community Basix drawing classes available in the Strandon Education Centre (next door to Gallery Frame Shop) every Saturday 12.30 – 2.30pm, $10 all materials supplied. Life drawing sessions also available every Wednesday 6 – 8pm, $15, bring your own supplies. Space is limited for both classes so please contact Rob between 10 – 4pm at 769 6000 to book your place.

QUIET ART: Visit and explore the exhibition­s at the Govett Brewster Art Gallery at the quietest time of the week. This time is suitable for people within the autism spectrum and visitors who want some space in the galleries. Every Monday, 3.30-6pm. NEW EXHIBITION: The North Taranaki Arts Society’s exhibition Winter Season is now showing at the Gables Gallery, next to the Chinese Pavilion at Brooklands Park until October 2. SENIORS TALK ART: Older people keen for a dose of art and culture can meet at Monica’s Eatery on Friday September 9 at 9.30am then take a tour of the new GovettBrew­ster Art Gallery exhibition Set in Motion from 10am. Entry is free and no knowledge of art is needed. COLIN MCCAHON: Professor Thomas Crow, visiting from New York University, will talk about the lives and art of Sister Corita Kent and Colin McCahon, at the GovettBrew­ster Art Gallery on Thursday September 22 at 6pm. The talk is in conjunctio­n with the touring GovettBrew­ster exhibition Sister Corita’s Summer of Love showing now at the City Gallery Wellington. Entry is free.
