The popular event runs alongside the Taranaki Powerco Garden Festival, on October 29 and 30, and November 5 and 6 from 10am to 4pm.

During this event people will have the opportunity to visit artists in their studios.

Organisers have introduced workshops with the artists this year in the hope it will lead to greater interest and appreciation of the artist’s skills.

Artist Fay Looney is running a workshop on Monday October 31 at Koru on Koru Gallery called Photography Discussion.

The subject will be ‘Publishing your work’ and she will share knowledge she has gained from publishing her own books.

In Susan Imhasly’s workshop, Felted Vessel, people will learn to work with a resist and create a 3D object.

These workshops are to be fun introduction to painting accompanied by wine and nibbles.

She will also have an artist talk on Wednesday, November 2 at 1pm.

This will contain helpful advice on making a living from being an artist.

Kris White is known for her fun workshops with children.

Her sessions are about using

Aher style of painting on canvas using bright colours and bold black lines.

These workshops will be held on both Saturdays of the festival and are for children aged between 8 and 14.

There are nine other artists involved the arts trail.

The experience of visiting artists in their work environment is unique, and leaves a lasting impression on people, who return to buy work or bring other visitors to see the art.
