Garden Festival later in the month. The Gallery will be open throughout the festival. The Society has new water colour classes planned. Auckland artist Amanda Brett’s watercolour workshop will be held November 12, 13 and local artist
Merv Turner is offering classes in watercolour and possibly oils December 3, 10. On January 28, 29 Maxine Thompson, international pastel artist, will be holding a workshop Seascapes and Crystal & Glass. OPEN STUDIO: Verdigris, 304 Broadway, Stratford, October 6-9 daily 10am-4pm. Come along to Verdigris and have a go at some cool art and craft projects, be inspired by creative demonstrations in Resin, Image Transfer, Chalk Painting and more. View the current exhibition upstairs at The Landing Gallery and participate in a collaborative mixed media piece of art that will be sold for charity. CAFE´ BUSINESS: The new heartwrenching New Zealand documentary by former New Plymouth director Lisa Burd follows an Auckland couple launching their cafe´ Monterey with three young Samoan boys. LEN LYE: A free documentary about Len Lye, the filmmaker and kinetic sculptor screens free every day at 1pm and 3pm in the Len Lye Centre Cinema. Flip and Two Twisters by New Zealand filmmaker Shirley Horrocks explores Lye’s career and ideas with the help of historical footage and excerpts from his films. GERMAN FILMS: Bookings are now being taken for the free German Film Festival screening each day at the Len Lye Centre Cinema from Tuesday October 4 to Sunday October 9.
