Ups and downs of life
THUMBS UP
TO: Broadchurch. This has been another gripping television series. The Brits do it best.
TO: Feijoas. Our tree has had a bumper crop this year, which just goes to show that ignoring something is the best policy. My workmates are pleased.
TO: New Zealand rugby teams in the Super-how-many-it-is-thisyear competition, especially with our gift to world rugby – the Barrett Boys – showing the way.
THUMBS DOWN
TO: The final episode of Broadchurch. After enjoying every episode the last one let us down a little. Half the men in the series were suspects, but the real villain was a character whom we hardly knew. And he was such an evil little whatsit, that we, the viewers, should have been made more aware of his character. In a subtle way of course.
TO: New Zealand Post and the time it takes to deliver letters. Catherine Groenestein and Jane Matthews did a brilliant job of showing that the company’s aim to have mail delivered within three working days was an absolute joke, as was saying it was too wet to empty the post box.
TO: Sabre rattling near Anzac Day. Lest we forget, Mr Trump et al.
