Rural Women was founded as the Women’s Division of the Farmers’ Union back in 1925 by 16 women, the wives of some of the men who were in the Farmers’ Union.
They wanted to have a collective voice to support rural women, families and communities as they were concerned about health services, education, roading and so on − issues that remain of concern for rural communities today.
Rural Women continues to support social connection, community development, leadership and encourage women to have a say at policy level.
It also a charitable organisation championing support for rural communities
