Saracens hammer Hamptstead in Ashburton

Saracens downed Hampstead 45-19 in Ashburton on Saturday in round eight of the Luisetti Seeds Combined Country Cup.

The result was Hampsteads eighth straight loss in the competitio­n.

Josh Maynard scored a double with Marika Roqica, Cameron Dyer, Vilami Fungavaka, Kerran Jenkins and Nathan Goodwin scoring tries, along with five conversion­s from William Jennings.

Ohoka gave the club day crowd at Mandeville something to celebrate, toppling top-four hopefuls Lincoln 22-10.

Ohoka led the visitors 12-5 going in to halftime and didn’t ease up in the second half with George Wiggins pulling out a hat-trick to snatch the win.

Lincoln had tries to Sam Cottam and Kris Wilder, with All Black prop Joe Moody adding his weight for 40 minutes.

Glenmark Cheviot beat BDI 16-23 in Dunsandel.

Brooke Retallick slotted three penalties and converted tries to Jacob Vincent to Sunia Kubu to secure the visitors the win.

Ashley was beaten convincing­ly 40-5 in Southbridg­e by a homeside staging a comeback from back to back losses.

Ashley’s sole try was scored by Andre Barret.

Rakaia kept their third spot after edging out visiting Oxford 37-35.

The visitors had tries to Liam Stevenson, Paul Hackett, Ben Gorst, Robert Tucker and Mosese Fosita with Sean Thompson slotting five conversion­s.

Darfield just squeezed past Kaiapoi to 37-35 to take the win at home.

The victory means Darfield remains at the top of section two.

Two converted Tries from Lance Taylor and and a single from Rob Samson and Filipe Kuruvoliwi­th with Taylor adding two to his earlier conversion­s along with two penalties.

Meanwhile Methven broke off the shackles to hammer Hurunui 54-25 in Methven.
