Oxford students challenged to excel
Collective and personal excellence is the objective of Oxford Area School.
‘‘We provide young people with opportunities and experiences, within school, our local community, regionally, nationally and internationally,’’ says principal Mike Hart.
‘‘We regularly challenge our students to believe in themselves, continually build their skills, get out of their comfort zone, understand that mistakes are the seeds of evolution and improvement, and to set huge goals.
‘‘At Oxford Area School, the key to excellence is what happens below the surface.
‘‘When we see a famous singer or sports person, we may quickly forget about the hours of sacrifice, persistence, failure, good habits, work ethic and dedication required to get there.
‘‘We believe those attributes, that lie below the surface, lead to excellence.’’
Oxford Area School’s open day and evening will be held on Monday, July 2.
Day tours to see the school ‘‘in action’’ will start at 9am, 10am, 11.30am and 12.30pm.
A new entrants parents evening begins at 6.30pm. Evening school tours will be held from 6.30pm to 8pm.
Meet principal Mike Hart and senior leaders Marcus Cooper and Jacqui Paterson in the reception area before embarking on a student-led tour. If you are unable to make it on this day, contact the school office on 03 312 4197 to arrange a school tour at another time.
Older students assist during peer reading sessions.
