Mairusukai Judo Club in Ran­giora has come away from the Canterbury Champs with a haul of nine medals from nine par­tic­i­pants.

Club pres­i­dent Bryce But­ter­field said and it was a great re­sult for the club’s young adults and teens, who had worked hard to get their plac­ings. The ma­jor­ity of medal­lists were teenagers, he said, and the club was hop­ing to en­cour­age more mem­bers in that age bracket.

The club meets at North­brook Stu­dios on Mon­day evenings. Any­one in­ter­ested in com­ing along to find out more would be wel­come to just show up and have a chat, he said.
