Ashley sends Hampstead home

Combined Country Cup teams have been relegated in lead up to quarter finals.

In the final games of section A, Burnham-Dunsandel-Irwell (BDI) came back from their 49-20 drumming by Waihora to beat out Ohoka 32-13.

A bye-rested Ashley got in and sent Hampstead home 33-24 to finish the round while Southbridg­e set a an example for their younger players, nudging past West Melton 28-21 for the home crowds on their club day.

Lincoln maintained form to win out over Saracens 34-22.

Strong contenders Waihora managed to take home another win to finish their round games, beating Glenmark-Cheviot 10-6 in the lowest scoring match of the weekend.

Celtic finished the rounds off with a bye after going down to Lincoln by two points the week before.

Methven took out the biggest scoreline of the round in section B, thumping last week’s winning elation out of Rolleston 61-21. Southern handed Hornby yet another defeat with a 33-20 final scoreline.

Rakaia edged out Kaiapoi 33-29, Oxford took out Hurunui 23-17 and Prebbleton took the wind out of Springston’s sails 17-12.

Darfield had the bye, getting a break in before their finals campaign after losing their final round game to Rakaia last week.

In the Cup Quarter Finals, Darfield will be looking for a strong start while facing Waihora in Tai Tapu.

Prebbleton will have a tough game ahead when they play Lincoln at home while Saracens will travel south to a face Rakaia at the domain.

Southbridg­e will be hoping to keep momentum from club game as they host Springston in front of their fans for their second home game on the trot.

BDI will face Oxford at Dunsandel Domain while Ohoka takes on Methven in Mandeville in the NCRSU Plate section.

In the Plaque Section, Hornby and West Melton will meet at West Melton Domain, Hurunui and Ashley will play in Culverden and Rolleston will host Hampstead at the Rolleston Reserve.

In the Rugby Supporters Club Trophy Section Celtic will face Southern in Hinds while Kaiapoi and Glenmark-Cheviot battle it out in the twin club’s home ground of Cheviot.
