Over three decades as an electrician has given Jon Cowles an in-depth understanding of what it takes to get a property’s electrics into top shape, and keep them there.

The owner of JC Electric, Jon is equally well versed in residential and commercial operations, whether it is upgrading a home’s lighting to low-cost LEDs or ensuring a business is prepared for the inevitable wear and tear of equipment.

Maintenance programmes to avoid downtime are a specialty, particularly for medical settings where no margin of error is acceptable.

Jon says he lives by the motto, ‘‘Do it once, do it right’’, which has been evident in his work for the past 34 years.

‘‘Anything involving electricity needs to be safe and fit for purpose so I take the view that no job is ever too small,’’ he says.

Jon launched JC Electric in April 2019 after a lengthy career with one of the region’s leading electrical firms. Since then, he has helped numerous households and businesses across Canterbury with their electrical needs.

‘‘I’m always happy to meet new customers and explain what we can do for them,’’ he adds.

‘‘I’ve got a real passion for making sure a job is done right.’’

With experience covering everything from wiring for renovations to emergency repairs and test-and-tag services for businesses, Jon has developed a keen eye for faults, both existing and imminent.

Popular summer jobs include exterior (both security and feature) lighting and wiring for bathrooms/kitchens, so homes are secure and comfortable when the seasons change. However, there is little JC Electric can’t help with.
