After 30 years, it’s the end of an era
A family-owned Canterbury adventure tourism business is on the market – sparking the ‘‘end of an era’’.
Amuri Jet Adventures runs jet boating, river rafting, quad bikes and off-road buggy tours near to Hanmer Springs.
It has been owned and operated by brothers Andrew and Brendon Cameron for about 30 years, but they have decided it is time to pass it on to others.
‘‘It is the end of an era,’’ said Andrew. ‘‘The kids have left home. It’s now time I retired. I’ve been jetboating all my life, since I was at school. It’s been good for my brother and I.’’
Harcourts real estate agent Harley Manion said it was a rare opportunity to take a dominant position in one of New Zealand’s most popular tourist destinations.
The property is 9254m2 with about 250m of frontage to both State Highway 7a and the scenic Waiau River.
‘‘This is a unique property with a thriving business, perfect for adding to an existing portfolio or as a standalone investment,’’ Manion said.
It was an established brand with forward bookings in place, he said.
It is on the market either as a freehold going concern, or the business only.
The site includes a four-bed house, as well as a standalone
booking office, plus the option of a further leased booking office in the central village.
The extensive chattels list includes boats, rafts, vehicles
and quad bikes.
Only 90 minutes from Christchurch, Hanmer Springs’ main attraction is its thermal pools and spa and is
recognised as one of New Zealand’s premier holiday destinations, Manion said.
It is for sale by tender until July 13.
